PhD researcher at the University of Amsterdam
At the University of Amsterdam I do research on designing social media, particularly for museums. I take a social perspective, learning from the designers themselves how they go about designing such online spaces where the public (or the public and the museum employees) can meet and learn from each other.
One of the online communities I am studying is the Community Joods Monument (CJM). I am talking to the museum employees, the community editors and the designers at Mediamatic to better understand the design philosophies behind the CJM and the challenges that occurred during and after the design process.
The other community I am researching is the one at the Amsterdam Museum. Here too, I follow the design process of the online community, in close collaboration with the museum employees and the designers at Mediamatic.
