Truida Hakker was married to Arnold van Emden. The couple had three children: Hijman, Louis Lena and one child that survived the war.
Arnold and Truida van Emden moved from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. In 1940 Truida van Emden-Hakker stayed at the Israëlitisch Oudeliedengesticht (Jewish home for the elderly) in Rotterdam. She died at the Jewish hospital at the Schietbaanlaan.
